Because of its wood content, natural color shifts do occur in Trex products. Twelve to sixteen weeks of exposure to sunlight and rain are typically required for Trex to achieve its faded color. This process is completely harmless to Trex products and does not affect their durability.

The "weathered appearance" color of Trex may be slightly different from the colors shown above. There may also be color variation between boards. This is normal and gives Trex its distinctive look and character.

The weathering process may be accelerated in dry areas by periodically wetting down the deck using a garden hose. Areas in heavy shade, or vertical components such as posts and balusters, may take considerably longer to fade.
