QUIKRETE® Mortar Mix 
QUIKRETE® Mortar Mix is a blend of masonry cement and graded sand , designed to meet ASTM C 270 for Type N Mortar. Just add water. Available in 80-pound bags.
If using QUIKRETE® Mortar Mix to lay either 8" x 2" x 4" bricks or 8" x 8" x 16" blocks with a 3/8" mortar joint, enter the number of bricks or blocks below for an approximation of the number of bags your project will require.
One 80-pound bag of QUIKRETE Mortar Mix will lay about 36 standard bricks or about a dozen standard blocks.
QUIRKETE® Sand/Topping Mix QUIRKETE® Sand/Topping Mix consists of a uniformly blended mixture of portland cement, commercial grade sands and other approved ingredients.

Traditional Mortar/Sand Mixes for Foundations
If laying 8x8x16 concrete block with traditional type N or type S mortar, you will need to purchase enough block sand to mix your mortar in the proper proportions. As a general rule, a project using one-hundred 8"x8"x16" blocks will require three bags of mortar and one-half ton of block sand.
*Sand and mortar calculations assume a small amount added for measuring errors and waste.
